The 19-year-old Jiah Khan who is making her debut in Bollywood’s ‘Nishabd’ opposite Amitabh Bachchan, says that ‘Younger girl-older man’ relationships are quite common in society nowadays. Jiah has played the Big B’s love interest in the film. She elaborates, “Nishabd is another example of the way Bollywood is growing today. Even though it is an uncommon theme for films, in reality it happens so many times. In fact, the movie shows the repercussions of such a relationship.” She emphasizes that the characters of Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Jia (Jiah Khan) share “pure love” in the film. She distinguishes their love from the usual filmi love

Regarding the promos of the film that indicate otherwise, Jiah calls it as ‘the power of editing’, and nothing else. “I am more than satisfied in bagging the role that most young starlets can only dream of. One might want to make a debut in a romantic film, an emotional film or likewise but I would say that through ‘Nishabd’ Ram Gopal Verma gave me six different roles in one film, my character in the film is emotional, rebellious, romantic, extreme in emotions, independent, I couldn’t have asked for more”. Jiah says she has always hoped for a career in Bollywood and that’s why “I learned acting in a New York school. And, that was method acting. This has helped me a lot in Bollywood as I gained confidence from my acting lessons there”. She said this during her recent promotional tour in New Delhi.
