Bollywood’s millennium star Amitabh Bachchan is extremely busy in his professional work even in the wake of his growing age. One wonders if he isn’t the busiest actor at this juncture. That’s why he had declined or rather showed his incapability to offer his candidature for the highest political status in India-President of India. Let’s check his agenda. He has made up his mind to act in Deepa Mehta’s ‘Exclusion’ as announced by her at a press conference in Mumbai organized for the promotion of ‘Water’ that has been nominated for Oscar. She says that she has met with Amitabh and readied him for her next film. She adds that it has been her dream to direct an actor like Amitabh Bachchan, and he is the fittest person for a movie like this which is based on real life story.
‘Exclusion’ is the story based on a historical truth that a ship had carried Indians to the Canadian shores, but those Indians were not entitled to enter into that country! Yes, this happened when India was being ruled by the Britishers. Besides, Amitabh will be working in the still untitled film of Planman Motion Pictures that will be the first ever bilingual film. The movie will have a big star cast of Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal, and Shefali Shah, besides Big B. The movie will be shot in India as well as abroad. The chairman of the Planman Motion Pictures Arindam Chaudhary says that the script has a great scope for all the members of the cast. The film is being directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Most importantly, Johnny Depp and Amitabh Bachchan, two actors representing the best of Hollywood and Bollywood, will work together in Mira Nair’s next directorial film ‘Shantaram’. While the Hollywood star of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Finding Neverland’ fame will play the central role in the film, Bachchan will act as kind-hearted Mumbai gangster. Mira Nair is too happy with this assignment given to her by Johnny Depp, a New York filmmaker. Mira says that she will resume its shooting soon after releasing her own production titled “Namesake’ in India. When asked about other members of the cast, she adds that Depp and Bachchan are sure to be in the cast but others are yet to be finalized. Regarding the story and shooting locations of ‘Shantaram’, she has disclosed that it will be shot in Australia, China and India, and it’s a screen adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’ book of the same name. Of course , Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Nishabd’ with Amitabh in the lead role, has just released . Aftaab Shivdasani has appeared as a guest , and is very proud of being a Big B’s costar for the first time. However, Aftaab has played roles in Amitabh starrer ‘Shahenshah’ and in ‘Insaniyat’ as a child artist.
